Kathryn Querner is a resourceful and detail-oriented attorney who is committed to diligently advocating for her clients. She is an associate in the firm’s Employment Litigation Group.

Before joining Payne & Fears, Kathryn clerked for the Honorable Jacqueline Kamins at the Oregon Court of Appeals. In this role, she researched and wrote opinions, reviewed appellate records, and communicated with other judges and staff attorneys to resolve challenging and often novel legal issues. Prior to that, she clerked for the Honorable Pierre Bergeron at the First District Court of Appeals of Ohio. She conducted legal research, drafted memoranda, and composed opinions for cases, in areas including labor, family, criminal, medical malpractice, and property law.

Kathryn graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served as the Executive Editor of the Virginia Law Weekly. During law school, Kathryn externed for the Honorable David O. Carter at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She also advocated for underrepresented incarcerated clients through the Virginia Innocence Project and the Illinois Prison Project. Kathryn received her B.A., summa cum laude, in English from the University of San Diego.

Outside of the office, Kathryn enjoys playing piano, baking, and spending time outdoors. She can often be found at the beach with a book in hand.
